28 April, 2020. In line with national efforts towards combating the COVID-19 pandemic, and in cooperation with UAE health authorities, we would like to update you about available information relating to rapid tests.
Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA), the governing body of DHCC, informs hospitals and clinics, and healthcare professionals in the free zone that there is insufficient evidence on the reliability and efficacy of COVID-19 rapid tests, which are currently being used by certain clinical facilities and healthcare professionals.
These testing kits utilise blood samples to detect antibodies; this method has yet to be reviewed and universally adopted as a reliable diagnostic tool.
Relevant UAE authorities are following up on scientific studies and testing the effectiveness of various devices and methods. Updates will be provided when available.
Based on the above, and with immediate effect, partners are required to comply with the below:
- All clinical facilities and healthcare professionals are prohibited from using the rapid tests.
- All pharmaceutical facilities are not allowed to use or sell aforementioned tests to facilities and/or customers/patients.
Note: Non-compliance will face disciplinary action from Dubai Healthcare City Authority – Regulatory (DHCR).
We look forward to your compliance in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.
